THE 3RD ANNUAL & STUDENTS CONFERENCE OF THE ISRAELI SMART TRANSPORTATION RESEARCH CENTER

This year, the ISTRC Annual Conference and the ISTRC Students Conference were merged together into a unified event on 27th and 28th of June 2023. In this two-days academic interdisciplinary conference which was hosted by the Ruppin Academic Center, researchers from 9 academic institutions in Israel presented innovative studies, covering various transport-related areas.
Beyond promoting advanced research, the goal was also to bring together leading experts from the public and industrial sectors with professionals and promising young researchers from the academia.
The ISTRC team would like to thank the members of the Academic and Organizing Committee: Dr. Ayelet Gal-Tzur (chair), Dr. Natan Pinhas and Dr. Gila Albert for the organization of the conference and for their great contribution to its success.

The conference hosted two distinguished keynote speakers:

  • Day 1 (27/6/2023) - Prof. George A. Giannopoulos, Professor Emeritus Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Greece, C. Member Academy of Athens, Adv. Professor, Beijing Jiaotong University
  • Day 2 (28/6/2023) - Shira Lev-AmiCEO, National Digital Agency

The many aspects of a sustainable transportation system were reflected in the presentations. The conference covered topics such as Autonomous vehicles, Safety, Travel behavior, the various forms of Shared mobility, Policy measures, Transport-related machine learning application and more.

The winners of the Best Student Conference Presentation Award of ISTRC-2023 are Felix Tener from the University of Haifa and Shadi Haj Yahia from the Technion. We congratulate the young researchers for their outstanding work!

ADDITIONAL ACTIVITIES

  • On Day 1, the Technion's Student Formula team demonstrated the vehicle they developed.
  • Posters demonstration and exhibitions were available during the conference.
  • Winners of the ISTRC students prize competition were announced in the wrap-up on Day 2.

The conference was funded by ISTRC and participation in the event was free of charge.
